Inner Child Healing: I Thought Someone Would Save Me

The day I stopped waiting to be rescued was the day my healing truly began.
As a child, all I wanted was to be saved.
I was shy. Quiet.
I often felt unseen.
My brother bullied me relentlessly. My father lived far away and had his own life. Love felt conditional. I felt unheard, unimportant, forgotten.
But despite everything, I carried a secret hope.
One day, someone would save me.
A man would come into my life and love me so completely that all the pain would disappear.
He would sweep me off my feet.
I would finally feel whole.
Finally feel worthy.
Finally be happy.
So I spent years looking outside myself.
Looking for someone.
Looking for something.
Looking for the person who would rescue me from my pain.
What I didn't realize was that I wasn't healing my wounds.
I was carrying them.
Burying them.
Stuffing them down like a can packed full of sardines.
And because those wounds remained untouched, I kept repeating the same patterns.
The same disappointments.
The same heartbreaks.
The same longing.
Waiting for someone to save me.
Until one day I realized something that changed my life:
No one was coming.
And strangely, that realization wasn't devastating.
It was liberating.
Because the moment I stopped waiting for someone else to save me was the moment I began saving myself.
Healing isn't about finding the person who completes you.
It's about remembering who you were before the wounds convinced you that you were incomplete.
It took me a long time to understand that even the music I was obsessed with growing up carried the same message:
Love yourself. Trust yourself. Know yourself. Believe in yourself.
This is the journey of healing.
The journey back home.
Back to your heart.
Back to the parts of yourself that were abandoned, rejected, forgotten, or left behind.
For me, that journey became Soul Mending®.
A path of returning home to myself.
Because no one can save you.
But you can.
And when you do, everything changes.
Have you spent part of your life waiting for someone to save you?
What changed when you realized your healing was in your own hands?
